Delay in flying training

Delays in flying training

Introduction

So, when my dad brought me to this flying school 2 years ago, we never expected such delays in flying training. Im not going to write a long post like I usually do. But I find the need to prepare you guys for something very unexpected- Delays!!.

Alright, if your paying from your pocket, and you also have to bear all the insults and humiliation, and on top of that if theres a long unbearable delay, how would you feel?. Let me tell you, coming from a middle class family, spending closet 50 lakhs on education is a big deal!!.

Flying training is an expensive privilege to have. Most of the schools take 1/4th to 1/2 of the training cost in advance. My father invested 1/4th of the training in advance. But, what have I got back in return, everything else other than flying. Folks, thats what helicopter flying in India from a military based school gets you. And especially when its the only helicopter flying school in India.

Reason for delays in flying training

Okay, let me prepare you for a few issues that students face that causes this delay and ill put it in points:

  • Not able to clear DGCA exams or FAA exams/orals/skill test.
  • Technical problems in aircraft.
  • DGCA/ FAA permits of the school being taken away.
  • Employees of the school on strike
  • Trainee goes medically unfit
  • Instructors not available
  • Lack of confidence of your instructor in you not letting you move further in flying.
  • Weather.
  • Airspace closed due to VIP flying in progress.
  • Lack of funds
